Hail the 2nd installation of the Dusit shoot, where basically the main concept why we shoot several editorials for Manila Bulletin as our pre-summer offering. Summer is fast approaching and who would deny the scorching heat that truly needs every cooling system in place. Check this out and know why this is really a crazy shoot indeed... In medias res, let's start with the pull series. As my previous blog, Aisa and I split the 5 editorials, and requires an assistant for each shoot. Tatie, Aisa, with Mitch in Accessorize-G5.
Last day pull, Pax and I came all the way from Makati to Ortigas to check out potential killer heels and unique pieces we can use in the upcoming shoots.

Thanks to Ally, Gold Dot, for the... well, let me just keep you excited! Next frames will be the crime behind the scenes. Read on.

Hot Bruno and sexy Marie. Trivia: Marie actually won Bb. Pilipinas: Ms. World 2009, and also won the Best in Long Gown and Miss Photogenic plum contests during the pageant. Up close and personal, she's really a great person.

Quick fixes before the black series dominates. The boxer trunks that cost me a fortune... Below, see the final layouts as seen on Manila Bulletin Lifestyle Fashion Section, released last Saturday, April 16, 2011.

The Romp!

This is a series of shoots we have held in Dusit Thani in Makati. The concepts took me almost 3 weeks of planning from hotel reservation, proper pulls, model casting, and even what concepts to include. We did 5 total of editorial shoots, which of course I give out 2 editorials to my bessy Aiza and 3 to me. Why 5? I think why not maximize the hotel's amenities, and it's features while it's free and super cozy by the way. My previous release had been more of women's wear, this time, it's Robyn, and Rxandy's time!

Check out the 1st release:

The Romp, released Saturday, April 9, 2011. The concept is just about simple Menswear RTW SS2011 collection. Ready to wear clothing, very accessible in the Phils, which is summer friendly fit in our tropical country. Start of great pull, start with Topman-Rockwell with Aisa, me and Ana. Ana is extending her support to us, since we badly needed styling assistant in this crazy shoot. Thanks Ana! My niece, Pabby, and her new obssession of Brazillian model, Bruno. In fairness, cute and humble si Bruno. Having 2nd thoughts of him during the casting, since I only choose models thru thier setcards, and seeing bruno there actually is scary - super bulk, and mature, contrary to the obvious, hahaha, good thing I pushed on. Bare with the quality of photos, outrageously needed a cam. Below are the final layouts, which Rxandy shared some multiple layouts since the shots are really awesome! To pump up the looks, I decided to shoot it in Tosca room, it's an Italian Room in Dusit, accommodating special functions. I want to tell the story of contrasting the summer fun in a very formal, luxurious setting, and as per Madam Rxandy described it, "Super Juergen!". *Juergen Teller is a fashion photographer, who master the bright contrast of shots, and usually his shots depict irony of clothing versus luxe environ.
Regatta look: Beach Ready. Shoes, Paul Guzman's Mvrk 6.0 Mid Nike. Shades, Cavalli Topman look: Badboy Look. Shoes, Paul's Topman boat shoes F&H look: Surfer Dude. This is actually my 2nd option, yes, no clothing here, since I couldn't find the cargo jeans to go around with red floral print shirt to go with it. Well, I think it works since it's summer, odd not include skin exposure right? Oh, another stylist's own, my sterling cross necklace, and I gave it to Bruno, who couldn't resist his perseverance and charm! Springfield look: Renegade. Why not! It's my newly bought watch! hahaha. Oxygen Look: Party fun. Shoes, Paul's Air Jordan 1 High Nike. Product placement: Moet & Chandon champagne, one of our international brands. Nice, love working both! Diesel look: Hide & Seek. Shoes, Paul's Air Force Low Nike. A/X Armani Look: Dandy Hype.

This shoot might be controversial since we've been breaking house rules, one points learned, always coordinate first before shoot! Notes taken. One thought, why Zara is not here, exactly! I tried pulling in them but the shoot was held on Sunday, and Zara don't allow pull/return between Mon-Wed, thus I need to find alternative look for the shoot. I love Regatta's look here actually - simple, commercial and wearable.

Topman SS2011 PR

When I started doing fashion styling, I really wanted to do editorials for major brands and when came along TOPMAN, it was really a great experience for me, still in awe. Last January, Ms. Val of RSSI, sent me a CD of SS2011 Lookbook* of Topman and Topshop. Lookbooks are every stylist's bible for new collection of certain labels. When Ms Inez emailed me about the proposal, I didn't hesitate to take it, since I have trust on the brand and know I can have a greater contribution to it, and plus it's really SOMETHING that I truly wanting to do. The offer is an editorial shoot for the TOPMAN SS2011 Press Release in print.

Lookbook is a collection of photos, illustrating the newest collection of a certain label or brand. It also serves as a guide of how pieces were put together.

Check out the final page in The Philippine Star, M Section, released last March 30, 2011.
I submitted 4 concepts and they were interested in 2 of the concept and finally decided to push thru on the Soak Up Concept. Its a resort to beach ready wear, very comfortable outerwear and very tropical setting, applicable in our country, still emerging the Topman aesthetic.
The team composed of Mark, for the Grooming, Ms. Val, from the Marketing.Behind the scene of the 1st layout. Messing Duane's mane.
Mark is so cool, that make the shoot lively and with a hot encounter....
The Team is composed of BJ Pascual, one of the country's best photographer in our time, Marketing officers: Inez, and Val. The rest... just read on:
Inez invited me as well on the Garage-Topman Young Talents 2011 Party, and here's some of it.
Of course, I need to grab Pax, and Mitch, too bad Jp didn't make it :(
The party includes AVP of the Topman SS2011 collection, and a mini fashion show.
It also introduces the Young Talents of 2011, and don't forget the openbar for Margaritta, JC's way of course.
Take a closer look of the final layouts of TOPMAN SS2011 Press Release.
Thanks to Paul Guzman here for allowing to pull Topman shoes as well.

Writer's Choice!
The deal is supposed to be 5 layouts but I add 1, as usual, for options and for model and my portfolio as well. Plus, Duane just love this carrot skinny pants, what's with those?
The entire shoot is really a detox for me, though a little pressure since working with people who are really very talented. Marketing have been doing PR's so each timing is queued plus Bj is so genuinely creative, I say. Love the shoot, thank God, this project is offered to me. To God be the Glory.
